Unknown Maker German Made? 1950s 60s US Army Combat Infantry Badge CIB 2nd Award

Unknown maker - we could not find the makers mark on the internet. It appears to be German made... likely from the 50's or 60's. It's thicker and heavier than a U.S. made piece, and we've not come across another like it in over 30 years of collecting....
This piece has NOT been cleaned or polished. The pin fasteners are included as shown. The front is in excellent condition, and all original - an amazing 50+ year old time capsule....
